Our assemblies have changed this year, due to the Corona Virus. This means that we are no longer able to hold our assemblies in the church. However collective worship takes place every day in classes with the help of Google Meet.

Our week now looks like this:

Monday – Whole school assembly, led by the headteacher and deputy headteacher. This assembly takes place via Google Meet and introduces out thought for the week, which is a Bible verse chosen to inspire and provide encouragement throughout the week.

Tuesday – The assembly is led by class teachers and centres around the school value for the half-term. A story from the Bible or a secular story is read and discussed.

Wednesday – We have an assembly based on a PHSE topic.

Thursday – We have an assembly based on citizenship and what that means for us at St John's.

Friday – On the last day of the week we have a celebration assembly. This is hosted in the Barn by the headteacher and the deputyhead. We invite two children along from each class who have been nominated by their class teacher to be given the headteachers gold award for an outstanding attitude to work throughout the week.

Mr Ian Farley, the rector of St John's Church, has also been recording assemblies for us which classes watch during the week.

All assemblies finish with a prayer either led by children at St John's, the rector or class teacher.
